The Global Energy Scenario is analyzed starting from a global energy consumption still sustained by fossil sources. Comparing the time to reach as much as the 50% of the market share of traditional sources with the trend of renewable ones, it appears that this growth is too slow taking into account the urgent request to lessen CO2 emissions. Some supporting technologies are presented with reference to the use of storage systems to mitigate the intermittent nature of energy produced by photovoltaic and wind plants. The adoption of power electronics systems to increase the energy saving quote is finally explained.
